The USA Women's soccer team had not played there best in the tournament, but we're on a roll. In a tournament like the World Cup, teams usually come in nervous and just focus on improving as the tournament progresses. The USA Women's team was doing just that. They began with a 2-2 tie to N. I guess "the rest of the story" would be that Hope Solo (the goalkeeper who was benched against Brazil in the World Cup) stayed with the team and was the goalkeeper the next time the USA faced Brazil -- and won!
By the way, this was under a new coach.
